@Pointedstick this branch also uses the appdata file you submitted upstream, with 2 changes:

use <launchable type="desktop-id">org.blender.Blender.desktop</launchable> which we need, but is currently unsuitable for upstream inclusion
I added two <release> tags for 2.79a and 2.79b

If you could have a look at the appdata file to ensure I didn't screw up anything, that would be great. :slightly_smiling_face:

(feel free to review everything else as well, of course :wink:)

@Pointedstick a test build failed because the appstream validator thinks 2.79a < 2.79, and as a result the appstream file is considered invalid. I figured you might be interested in that tidbit, as that might impact your attempts at getting upstream to accept the appdata file.
