Crash when dragging anything on Wayland #365

Chromium crashes when dragging and pulling tabs out (detaching it from the window). Simply shuffling a tab from side to side among other tabs does not cause a crash.

Dragging other elements (link, text, image) also causes a crash but not always. I don't know what triggers it.

I don't know if it happens in X11 in this system as well — I only use Wayland — but it wasn't happening on other systems I used under X11 before.

I don't know if directly related, but I noticed, when dragging tabs, I get a few of the following message in the terminal: [2:2:0227/151551.325064:ERROR:wayland_window_drag_controller.cc(152)] zcr_extended_drag_v1 extension not available! Window/Tab dragging won't be fully functional

The issue doesn't happen in Brave or Firefox.

Same here, but the browser doesn't crash immediately. Instead of this I can't click anymore on browser, only the keyboard seems to work and after some time the browser crash and close.

On X11 session this problem not occurs, also on Wayland its not occurs when I put the "Ozone platform" on Chromium as "X11" (XWayland in this case).

Might be this upstream bug? I don't think there's anything we can do about that from our end.

Looks to be fixed, both in KDE and Chromium: https://issues.chromium.org/issues/336449364

For anyone here who has the KDE-side fixes please check out #403 (or even if you don't, that should at least fix the hard crashing).

@hyuri This issue does happen in brave. It hard-crashes when dragging tabs only sometimes though.

With latest KDE Plasma and Chromium, it crashes very rarely.

For me it still crashes and freezes my entire system when dragging any chrome or chromium tab from one screen to another. Thought it would be fixed, but apparently not (Arch up to date, KDE PLasma 6.1.4).

@EXCIDIVM I mean, what browser version do you have? Maybe GPU can play a role? (maybe)
