According to this file: https://svn.filezilla-project.org/svn/FileZilla3/trunk/configure.ac (section: Updatecheck related flags), looks like playing with disable-manualupdatecheck and/or disable-autoupdatecheck should do the trick.

I don't see the Check for updates... option in the Help menu, so I would assume it should do it.

Thanks for this, sorry not to see it over christmas. I've pulled these changes into the branch that updates to 3.52.0 https://github.com/flathub/org.filezillaproject.Filezilla/pull/57
