Hello, I have an Endless computer and i would like to download the game Age of Empires which which i think is available in Phoenicis PlayOnLinux. My problem is that i’ve already installed that program but when i press on the “Apps” section, the screen freezes and keeps loading without showing me any aplication. I would really appreciate if someone can help me!

Do you have this only in the flatpak? Otherwise, it might be https://github.com/PhoenicisOrg/phoenicis/issues/2130.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply! That's exactly what's happening to me. Sorry but i read all the replies there and i don't quite understand how to solve it. Do i need to install another program ? Could you please help me to find a solution ?

Thanks in advance.

I hope that we can fix this issue for the next release. As a workaround, you can download the app scripts manually (https://github.com/PhoenicisOrg/scripts/archive/release/5.0-alpha-2.zip) and then change ~/.Phoenicis/repositories.json to use it (see https://phoenicisorg.github.io/phoenicis/Users/repository/#local-directory). This will avoid using git which causes the issue originally.

I've done that and the installation process started but then it asked me to install Steam even though i have it already installed in my computer and the script ended with an error: Captura de pantalla de 2020-04-01 15-54-22

Thanks for yor help!

Phoenicis is using a Wine prefix for every app. Therefore, also Steam has to be installed in every Wine prefix. If you would like to use your native Steam client, you can also do that. With Proton, you can start Windows games directly from Steam (no additional tools required in this case).

How do i install Steam in every Wine prefix ? The game i want isn't free to play on Steam but i could install it for free from Phoenicis. I just wanted to do that.

Thanks!

Before that error showed up, the system asked me to install Steam and log in to continue the game installation. When i selected the location where i wanted to install Steam, that error suddenly appeared. Captura de pantalla de 2020-04-02 13-22-56

Is there any command that i can use to install Steam in every Wine prefix and avoid this error so i can install the game with Phoenicis ?

I think there's a misunderstanding here. What Phoenicis does is: It allows you to run Windows applications via Wine. However, you still have to own these (e.g. in Steam).

@plata I have the same issue and try to follow your workaround without success:

Thanks in advance, your work seems to be my only way to be able to run win32 prefixes on Ubuntu 20.04

Could you paste the complete repositories.json? Also, please try with a full path. Maybe ~ doesn't work.
