Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the main change introduced by this release the ability to flagrantly violate CurseForge's Terms of Service?

It does appear like that. Its a build-time option so simply setting Launcher_CURSEFORGE_API_KEY_API_URL to an empty string should deal with this, though the MSA token should be inspected to make sure the same isn't happening with it.
