Crash when sharing screen #246

On Ubuntu 20.04 (Pop!_OS), I've experienced a problem when sharing screen:

  1. Share whole screen
  2. Open OpenBoard
  3. Start writing, or just wait for some seconds
  4. Zoom abruptly crashes, having to rejoin the meeting

This has been happening to my wife as well, for several months. Any tips how to debug this?

You could try flatpak run us.zoom.Zoom on a terminal and see if it prints something useful. It seems pretty straightforward to reproduce. I can try to do it later; right now I'm using the official package because of this issue.

I installed the Flatpak again and it doesn't print anything to the terminal

There's nothing in the logs unfortunately. It looks like the entire flatpak container is getting SIGKILLed for some reason, and there's no explanation anywhere. :-/

Is anyone able to reliably reproduce this issue? Maybe debugging it with some tips from here would help: https://docs.flatpak.org/en/latest/debugging.html (Eg: run /app/extra/zoom/ZoomLauncher inside flatpak run --command=sh --devel us.zoom.Zoom)

I'm interested in seeing this issue fixed because I also experience it when attempting to share my screen with a diverse group of participants. Unfortunately, so far I haven't been able to reproduce this by myself or with one other person in isolation. Just a shot in the dark: maybe it's something to do with what a different client (for example MacOS?) causes my Linux client to do?

We were able to reproduce it somewhat reliably a couple months ago (using another Linux/flatpak client on the same wifi) but haven't found the time to debug it further since then. We only got as far as knowing that everything's getting SIGKILLed but didn't manage to find who's doing that. It's still in my TODO list but there are loads of other things there as well. :-/
