[Feature request] Double-tap to edit recipe #200

Hello,

First of all, thank you very much for this great app! (discovered yesterday on F-Droid) I currently manage my recipes with Nextcloud Notes but the recipe layout, the search and the seasonal calendar are very interesting so I may migrate to Broccoli.

Something that I find somewhat frustrating though is that, when viewing a recipe, the "Edit" button is hidden in the three-dot menu (not very practical for quick edits such as fixing typos).

Would it be possible to allow entering edit mode with a double-tap anywhere on the recipe view?

An example of implementation can be seen in the app Diary (https://f-droid.org/packages/org.billthefarmer.diary / https://github.com/billthefarmer/diary) where a double-tap anywhere in a page switches it to edit mode.

Best regards.

Hi!

Thanks for your feedback :)

Yes, a faster way to edit would be nice. I'm just not sure if a double-tap would be intuitive enough to get. I try to adhere to the Material Design principles and I don't think double-tapping on content is a thing there. With "recipe view" you mean the details view of one recipe, right?

Another idea could be to allow the other actions in the menu besides favoriting to appear on top without using the three-dot menu... (as long as the screen size allows).

Hello,

Thank you for your reply, yes this is what I meant with "recipe view".

Using the app on a phone, I am not sure the "Edit" action would appear as there would already be the two "Share" actions to display before (assuming actions from the three-dot menu would appear in order). However, maybe the "Edit" action could be moved before the two "Share" actions?

Another idea would be to add another floating button with a pen icon next to the "Cook" floating button.

Best regards.

I would also favour a button - not so much for discoverability as because an accidental double-tap might be relatively easy to do accidentally while cooking, and that would get very annoying very fast :-)

I would prefer a button next to the kebab menu over another floating button - those get in the way fast.
