{{TOC}} Error with variables in a heading

Using variables in headers is OK, unless the {{TOC}} command is also used; as in the following fragment:

foo:      Explicitamente

{{TOC}}

# A Variable in a Heading [%foo] 

produces: print_toc_node encountered unknown node key = 81
