Text/Keyword Search Please #76

Quite a lot of us have a lot of photos on Flickr. That means that a downloader that allows us to select by clicking requires that we move through several (hundred) pages of photos in the attempt to find the photos that we want to download.

One way would be to first use Flickr's Organisr text search to create an album with the photos, and then download that using this software. But then, one can use the download a zip file feature of Organizr to download.

Ideally there would be a text / keyword search. I would not care where the search takes place (titles/descriptions/tags - preferably all) but of course the ability to stipulate would be fun for some.

I had the same problem, and I resolved using the search textbox inside the Preferences tab:

It will allow the application to search for the text you typed among all the albums name. Thus, you can create your albums in Flickr and then download them with that option.

I hope this may help you too.

PS: Please note the the "download a zip file feature of Organizr" had a size limitation, so that it didn't work for files bigger than (if I well remember) 100 MB. Also, that download does not keep the original upload order, but the files have random filenames.

Thanks for the suggestion but alas, often I am looking to download photos that are not grouped together in an album.

As mentioned in my first post, I could use Organizr text search to search for the images I want, then put them in a new Album, then download them using downloadr.

But Ideally I would like to search for text, using an interface such as that in the mock up below. downloadr Oh, and thanks for pointing out the advantages of downloadr over the zip download provided by Flickr Organizr. Having meaningful filenames, and also the option to download non original sizes is a definite plus.

In my use case, I used Flickr web search to search for the images I wanted, then put them in a new album.

Finally I used downloadr and put in "Search for Album Name" the album name or part of it.

Please note that it searchs for partial names, so you can type "house" and it will get "householder", "housekeeper" and so on. I think it is the same of your proposed "Text Search".
