This PR is in response to https://github.com/fredrik-johansson/arb/issues/335#issuecomment-699024877 lured by the prospect of saving 130000 seconds. In my tests it increases efficiency like 5% or 10%. If you are running something for a day on 32 cores then I guess it could technically save 130000 cpu-seconds.
