The Sound Integrated Circuit or ‘IC’: A set of modules (Synthesiser, DSP and Mixer) that generates the audio signal and applies effects on it. It supports up to 64 PCM channels with a resolution of 16 or 8 bits and a sampling rate of 44.1MHz

A sampling rate in the house of Megahertz seems astronomical. 44.1 KHz would be the correct rate as found in CDs.
