418MHz in North America #2318

Closed dogtopus closed 1 year ago

Describe the bug.

There are modules, remotes and sensors sold in NA that use the 418MHz band just fine. Some (namely Linx) even recommends this band in the US due to 433MHz having overlaps with the ham radio band. However Flipper doesn't seem to support TX at this band even when the signal is just low power chirps which should be fine under FCC 15.231 upon first glance.

Is this a bug or did I miss something obvious?

Reproduction

  1. Replay a 418MHz message.
  2. Get the "Transmission is blocked. Transmission on this frequency is restricted in your region." message.

Seems like Flipper is not certified by FCC to do 418MHz. Therefore adding this alone in software will (legally) not be possible without a re-certification and possibly a hardware change.
