Describe the bug Battery level not updated regularly as before while charging.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. what command did you use : psa_car_controller -l 0.0.0.0 -f config.json -c charge_config.json -R 5 -r -m login@mypeugeotapp.com -P P@ssw0rd
  2. when the bug append ? Didn't notice, I would say a few days or weeks ago.
  3. Does it persist after restarting the program? yes
  4. Does it persist after recreate config by going to http://server_address:port/config? same issue

Today I can test it, the first thing that it don't update the value shows also for me, but at state of 73% I triggert a for refresh by using the App, it seems that there is a different MQTT command to for update battery status, but I wonder about both other state but I think it is a Stellantis issue because Tronity app never send push notice for charge state

Got an answer from TRONITY support, which could explain this issue :

"this is a PSA overall issue for AC charges. They implemented this so that the car can go to sleep. Only DC charges will send an update. We already asked PSA if we can get a refreshed endpoint like MyPeugeot app but we are still waiting for it".

I'm just surprised that this topic issue is not generating many comments from psa_car_controller users : for this reason, charge control feature is completely broken.

We are a minority to get this issue ?

Sometime the car doesn't wakeup when a wakeup request is send. It can lead to this behavior. But for me it's working well.

Ok if you don't have a charge threshold or a stop hour, no wake up are send and therefore data aren't updated...

OK it seems logical, but I have in mind that there was no value before when it was working. So in your opinion, I should only put something like 99 for percentage, OR a stop_hour to trigger regular updates ?

Confirm having same problem with PSA CC 2.5.6 and home assistant.

Battery status was updating correctly at 1% increments before (v.2.5.3 I think), even during AC charging.

My charge_config.json looks identical to the one posted by CalicodesIles

This not only breaks charge control, but also Charging statistics, as today for example I stopped the AC charge at 93%, but the Charging statistics shows that I have stopped it at 89% ( due to manually refreshing MyPeugeot app). This of course breaks any price statistics PSACC provides.

If I force the value 100 for percentage threshold, the error disappears. Didn't try another value.

I tried an AC charge this morning (7 kW) and for the moment I don't think that there is an improvement. There is a 1% increase reported correctly (I don't think that it was the case before), but not the following ones.

Same thing on v.2.6.0 . If relevant, when driving the battery status is updated constantly every 1%. While charging, the SoC % is updated only if I open the MyPeugeot app and refresh the car status from there.

It isn't supposed to update whilst AC charging under normal circumstances, the car goes to sleep. This has been the behaviour for the last 20 months on my car. The car will only update via the API if it is 'woken' by an event - charge stop/start. unlocking/locking, pre-con starting or running, refresh of the MyPeugeot app or PSA CC sending a wake command. I have an automation in HA that wakes the car every 30 mins if plugged in and actively slow charging so I get regular updates. Or you need to set a charge threshold of less than 100% in PSA CC and then PSA CC will wake the car to monitor the progress and so it knows when to send the stop charge (enable deferrred charging) command. Seems to be working as designed to me, not a bug.

These are the conditions on my automation in HA, then set a trigger time pattern of /30 of whatever you want it to be,. Then enable the automation. Simple Screenshot 2022-02-05 at 11 22 33 .

Thank you for your sharing. I assure you that for the past few months / years of use, I always had this updating regularly without having to do anything more. It was its main use as flobz integrated the charge control function (charging up to a certain percentage)

Yes, if you enable the charge control function, so set a charge limit of less than 100%, PSA CC wakes the car to check on progress as I said. But if your charge limit is 100% or null it doesn't, as I said. If you have a charge limit set and your car isn't being periodically woken then something is wrong. Charge control feature still works perfectly well for me if the value is less than 100%. You said it works if you set the threshold to 80%?

Yes that was my point : I didn’t use the charge control feature before and though, it was working with refreshed battery values, and that without any refresh command sent by PSACC. I think that I can find a log extract on an older issue.

Now, logs seems to be far more verbose than before with charge control activated, because of the refresh command needed regularly.

I don’t know if that was the bug or something wrong on PSA side but I can assure you that I always had this working even with threshold set to 100%.

Have a look through the python code yourself - I'm assuming this line might have something to do with it in charge_control.py, but I'm not a coder. if status == "InProgress" and self.percentage_threshold < 100:

In 20 months my car has never updated SoC by itself in either the MyPeugeot app or TRONITY whilst AC charging as by Stellantis design, it is asleep. Something has to wake it. It has never been a Stellantis feature for AC charging to keep updating the API periodically.

And by the looks of the code, the charge control feature of PSA CC doesn't keep waking it if your charge threshold is 100. I don't know if that has changed as I have only been using PSA CC for a couple of months, and during that time the only time it has kept waking the car is if the charge threshold is < 100. If the charge threshold is 100, it doesn't.

That's why I always set it to 99%. And even then you will not get very recent data to work with. That's no bug in the addon, but a PSA flaw. My solution was to watch the charger's current it's charging with. My aim was to stop on 90% and that's easily doable that way as the car slows down to <4000 W after it gets to 90%.

It is indeed - the process of waking the car and car updating its SoC to API takes at least 2 minutes, if not a little longer. And that is if the car is in an area with really good 3G connectivity. It might be worth some people connecting the car to their home wifi if they have poor or non-existent 2G/3G at home. A lot of 2G/3G is being turned off ...

I can confirm the automation correctly updates the charging level every 30 minutes. I am still testing if a lower interval can be used, as a 10 minutes interval appears to have resulted in a "ban"/throttle limit, MyPeugeot app no longer updating and I had to disconnect the car battery for it to start working again.
