Can not change contents of matrix #20

The matrix constantly shows the same default gif and I can not change it:

image

The same gif always appears on boot, wake, idle etc.

asusctl anime image -p /home/luca/Downloads/image.png Executing this image command seems to work. It does not give me any error message on correct syntax. But the image on the back does not change.

asusctl anime --clear Trying to clear the matrix also does not work. It only stops if I actually disable it completely.

I checked the configuration file /etc/asusd/anime.ron and the gif is not set in boot, wake or shutdown (The default sonic files are set there). I also can not find it in the default matrix directory (/usr/share/asusd/anime/).

I am running pop os on a GA402RJ (Zephyrus G14 2022) and used an older version for about a year without problems. Recently I reset my computer and updated to the latest version of asusctl (5.0.10). I set the brightness to 2, enabled the display and animations.

I'm having the exact same issue, which older version worked for you?

rileylyman commented 8 months ago

I just jumped back through some commits and rebuilt - v5.0 still has the problem but when I jumped back to v4.6 the matrix works. I didn't test anything between those two version though

Hey I just rolled back and 4.6 actually also works for me. Awesome! Would be nice to also see the newest versions working for us.

You need to disable the builtin animations first. I am updating asusctl to do this when images are requested.
