Head-Up Display (HUD) Retrofit #3415

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

No

Describe the feature you'd like to see implemented

It would be nice to have a working Head-Up Display (HUD) like some of the A320 that has been retrofitted with them. This would require a full model of the HUD screen itself, as well as the information being displayed on the glass HUD itself.

I was also interested in this feature and I will maybe try to implement it if I have time. I also wanted to note that AFAIK it is more common on the A380 to have a HUD than for the A320, so it would be nice to have for the 380 in the future as well, assuming both planes have similar HUDs.

It is common to have the HUD fitted to A320s for RNP AR ops e.g. https://twitter.com/FlyAirNZ/status/1174201385807536128

I didn't know that, I thought it was mainly for assistance in low visibility landings.

I was wondering, can we use the HUD of the default 787 in MSFS as a starting point for this or is that not something you can just copy/paste because it is not open source?

It requires some model changes to add the HUD to the cockpit model. This likely won't happen until at least after our blender importer/exporter is complete. The actual display code we'd almost definitely write from scratch.

It is still relevant.
