Describe the bug

Some reflections in the cockpit are those of the ventilation vents at the base of the windshield. Reflections are many lines of bright luminosity alterning with shadow lines) Normally the lights entering in these vents should not pass through the instrument panel. They should be not present.

Some images to illustrate the problem

Expected behavior

No such sun reflections should exist.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Start a flight in sunny conditions
  2. Check that false sun reflections (alternate line reflections) are present on the instrument panel, depending on the aircraft position relative to the sun.
  3. These reflections should not be present as they are issued from the ventilation vents at the base of the windshield. Captain side and FO side show the problem.

Are you running DX11 or DX12? I'd have expected to get this report frequently by now if it was common and I've never seen it...

PatriceCesson commented 9 months ago

Hi, I am running DX12. Thanks. Patrice.

I have seen a few instances of this as well. I'm also running DX 12

2hwk commented 9 months ago

I have noticed this on DX11, but it is not as obvious as these examples

AmericasEngineer commented 9 months ago

I have also noticed this on DX11. Strangely enough it appeared after turning on HDR. Not sure if there is a correlation there.

PatriceCesson commented 9 months ago

Hi, on my side, HDR is not activated and I am running DX12. WBR. Patrice.

Hi, Do we know when this will be fixed? Thanks. Patrice.

tracernz commented 6 months ago

Due to the community-driven nature of our projects, we do not enforce delivery timelines on our volunteer developers. We value high-quality, polished releases over frequent and quickly-released ones, which means some features might take time to land in a publicly-available build. Rest assured that our developers and contributors are working hard on making every FlyByWire project as bug-free and feature-complete as possible, but that we are not able to provide release dates or estimates for a certain feature/fix.

This issue with the vents casting shadows has been noted and reproduced by core team members (and everyone) across a variety of systems, it is definitely not an isolated issue, the team is very aware of the problem. We are just lacking the bandwidth to address this at this time, as it is not considered a high priority fix.

Ok. I understand. Thank you.
