it's GPLv2 I don't know why there isn't the file in the repo, lets add it right now :)
This means that if I want to take a piexe of it for my closed sourced app, it must become open sourced too ? :(
I don't think there is much reason to make it have this license, when there are other libraries that offer the same for a more developer-friendly license: https://github.com/jreese/gifpaper https://github.com/peejaybee/NyanWallpaper
Open source allow collaboration and improvement of software and I don't see any drawback to it. Why wouldn't you open source your app ?
Like most things in life, it doesn't only has advantages. It can have disadvantages. One of them is that the "bad people" can take the code much more easily, and make their own app with all of the efforts I've spent for so many years, claiming it's theirs, etc. There is a known phenomena of duplicate apps out there, where people took an APK and replaced the images , ads keys, and IAP keys, and took it for themselves. What I do open source is some key functions. Not the whole app. I do this by either putting in Github or on StackOverflow. If a developer is decent, he can do it all by himself, and also find all he needs on those places, just like I did.
Maybe when I don't have time anymore for my app, I will open source it.
But why won't you open source this library (with a nicer license that is), though, if it's so similar to others that are open sourced?
Apache2 ?
