Periodic hang of GE -- Mac only #800

Approximately every 25 seconds, GE freezes for a period of 0.5 to 1.0 seconds. 
This happens on a Mac but not on a PC. It happens in Safari, Firefox, and 
Chrome. 

OS X 10.6.8
GE plugin 6.2.2.6613

I experience this problem in my own application but it can be easily seen in 
the Monster Milktruck demo:

Yep hangs for me whenever I search for a specific area.
