Guice 2 has cool stuff for private modules. I suspect it won't just work in
Gin -- we'll need to add explicit support.

Excuse me, what is the status of this issue at the moment?

Are there any workarounds for "robot legs" problem for current state of GIN 
code?

This is issue is opened for a while, does the GIN trunk has this feature enable?

There is now an active patch for Private Modules that is being worked on (see 
http://codereview.appspot.com/3971043 and another upcoming code review). These 
will likely go through several revisions before we can put them in but Private 
Modules are finally coming to Gin! :)

Well, this took a while but more than two years later this feature is now 
available in Gin trunk. Committed in r166.
