Area covered recording for Agriculture

I have used My Tracks for recording Field work like planting or fertilizer 
spreading.  I would like a way to record only when the implement is active.  If 
it was possible sense a external switch or record only when charging, it would 
be easy to adapt it for use on different processes and implements.  Manually 
pausing recording for each headland turn or at the end of each load greatly 
takes away the usefulness of this app for this purpose.

Also, the addition of a place to enter implement working width and using the 
recorded distance to give a readout of the area covered would be excellent.  
These two features would turn My Tracks into one of the most useful apps for 
agriculture.  Here is a sample from planting corn this spring:
