[FMNH Birds 237949] Zoothera dauma dauma - Subspecies misidentified ? #20

Open paintedstork opened 8 years ago

paintedstork commented 8 years ago

This is reported by Walter Koelz as the southern subspecies Zoothera dauma neilgherriensis Koelz, Walter 1942. Notes on the birds of the Londa neighbourhood, Bombay Presidency. Journal of the Bombay Natural History Society. 43: (1) 11–33

Was there a re-identification or could it have been a mistake while cataloguing? Rasmussen & Anderton (2012) also does not include Western Ghats for the distribution of the nominate race.

We have looked at the specimen in comparison with the one neilgherriensis in our collection and believe it be a cataloging issue (meaning that this bird should be changed to neilgherriensis).
