How to find the main Minecraft file to add it via Steam (to play with controller via big picture)

You'll still want to go through the launcher rather than trying to launch Minecraft directly, but you can run PollyMC with the --launch <instance id> argument and it will launch straight into Minecraft. So the command you'd run is:

/path/to/pollymc --launch 1.20.4

or similar.
