I think that requires a Matrix user, so we can't put a link to the Matrix space in there.

Maybe it will accept a room ID?

Maybe, I specifically said "our matrix contacts" because I also suspected that. We can additionally put the link to the matrix space in the profile descriptions too.

Neither room link nor space link will work. We can either give my account, your account, or mix them up. I'm fine with mine being in there. Here's the new space for the directory I just made btw: https://matrix.to/#/#lemmy-directory:matrix.org
