Youtube puts video into an mkv container. When you try to import it straight you get a file not supported. When you change the fileending from mkv to webm you can import it, but there is no sound, so you have to rip the aac audio stream and import it manually. It would be really good to have support for importing the .mkv with a vp9 stream and working audio.
