Rescue Excon::Error::Socket and authenticate #26

Rackspace users started reporting intermittent "broken pipe" errors that seem to be related to authentication. This rescues those errors and attempts to authenticate, and users reported this fixing the problem.

Looks like the test failure was not related to the change. Any way to trigger a re-build on the new CI?
