datasets listing - split across pages #112

Given that we are now getting a few more datasets added to COD (yippee!) it does mean that the list is getting too long to display on one page. Can we have the usual page split at the top and bottom i.e. Next>1,2,3,> last type of thing.

This might be a bit tricky given its a wizard. Would infinite scroll work, where it loads some, and then loads more as you scroll down?

How would having multiple pages help?

GilesGibson commented 10 years ago

having pages would be easier - you could just click through a screenfull at a time, one click, next screen type of thing.

If we get to a few hundred datasets, and I hope we do, will it be really slow keeping on triggering the infinite scroll?

I hadn't realised that page views would be a problem with this. If it is a real hassle then leave for now and see how the feedback is.

We probably need to think more about the overall design of the interface and what other kinds of filtering would be desirable.

Pages probably can be done. But what happens when you start to do text filter? Currently that only applies to what is on screen. If it needs to search through all datasets, it will need implementing differently, because it would have to query DU. And probably that implies a DU search API.

Going to set to Backlog for now.
