Fixes issue #46

I ran into the same problem described in #46, removing the app.root fixed it.

I just released v4.1.0 that includes that fix, but slightly different. Thanks for the PR though.

Cheers, I hope this finally solves all issues with paths, allowing for absolute and relative ones :)
