Mark disc as "Various Artists" results in Error in mp3 encoding: SVN v.307 #229

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Insert Disc to be ripped as MP3 format in preferences.
2. Check "Mark disc as various artist"
3. "Rip CD Now!" and observe.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expect tracks to encode to MP3 properly. Instead, the MP3's (and temp
wavs) are missing from the filesystem & a warning is output to the log
file. Log errors read:

WARNING: Encoding to mp3 exited with an error with track 1!

WARNING: ENCODING ERRORS WERE DETECTED

What version of rubyripper are you using? On what operating system? Are you
using the gtk2 or the commandline interface?
rubyripper: svn revision 307.
OS: Ubuntu 8.04
Using GTK2

Please provide any additional information below.
I had the same issue reported in bug 228. Per the recommendation there, I
grabbed v307 from SVN and compiled rubyripper from there.

Note that the issue only seems to arise if "Mark disc as various artist"
and mp3 encoding are both selected. In other cases, the behavior appears
normal:

If MP3 and Not Various Artist -> successful rip
If WAV and Various Artist -> successful rip
If MP3 and Various Artist -> failed rip
