“FontForge.app” cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified. macOS cannot verify that this app is free from malware. This item is on the disk image “FontForge-2023-01-01-a1dad3e.app.dmg”. This disk image was downloaded on an unknown date.

FontForge 2023-01-01 downloaded from [https://fontforge.org/en-US/downloads/mac-dl/] macOS Monterey Version 12.6.4

Have both tried to open direct from disk image, can successfully move FontForge application to desktop but also opens to same error message

I am having the same problem trying to install the application. And the workaround didn't work for me 😞
