"Confirm exit after back gesture" option is not working properly

I'm using version 8.8.15 on Calyx OS and the "Confirm exit upon back gesture" toggle in settings is not working properly.

No matter if the option is on or off the app still asks to confirm exit after the back gesture.

Update the application to the latest version, and check in the settings whether the check box is set to show messages.
