Many DRM-free sources (including Project Gutenberg) are distributing the new format.

W3C is recommending v3.3

Librerea supports epub3 format, if you have a problem with some book please send it.

This epub3 from Project Gutenberg was crashing v8.8.5 (1204-pro) https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/4686

The epub2 file worked..

Upgraded to v8.9.9 from GPlay which fixed this.

Add'l data point - v8.8.68 from f-droid on another device also worked.
