Site Features #1

This will be our list of features for the site, a shoebox to brainstorm ideas in. Issues get escalated from here to individual issues marked "Feature".

Instagram for food. A place to take a picture of a dish, describe it, add labels to it, review it, credit it, etc. Specific to a dish, not an entire restaurant. Can be anyone.

i just discovered the first foodie social network site that is conceptually close to my ideas.
www.socialculinaire.com all others are just a cookbook style my imagination is running wild with a site like this.... but with hardcore world of warcraft style gamification strategy: graduated quests and rewards achievement boards titles progress bar "quests" would be offered as challenges. and would be categorized for the user based on the "race" or "class" they join the site as. (pastry chef, baker, foodie, critic, etc. etc.) titles could be earned with stars etc quests would also reward food photography, writing, recipe creation etc. it's endless, and i want to encourage as much creativity as possible want users to see their own space in a way that makes them take pride and feel they have creative control over how they display and show off their achievements

Our feature list will define the technology used. Right now I'm leaning towards BuddyPress http://buddypress.org/ which is a wordpress platform focusing on social networking features.

Ok, then what we should do is break this down into individual components - like activity stream, photo gallery, etc...

select your species: chef bug, pastry bug, foodie bug, photo bug, critic or review bug, video bug etc. possible bug avatars? select your class: areas of expertise- etc
