Thanks for contributing this, would you mind outlining in what sort of scenarios it would make sense for a merchant to use this.

One real world scenario would be a case when we have more than one links in the same page pointing to the same URL and we want to find out which of them would receive more clicks -- each link on the page should have a unique id for this to work.
