Hi Becky and Krista,

Great work on this! It's really come together beautifully!

I've made some comments on the attached files, mostly handwritten, a few as notes. Let me know if you have any questions on them.

In terms of the space for time substitution critique from the reviewers, I definitely agree that the text makes it sound too much like we are claiming that. This is pretty easily addressed with wording changes, but care needs to be taken with wording. For example, I've used text along the lines of "An understanding of how forest carbon fluxes vary with climate among forests today is a necessary precursor to understanding how forests will respond to future climate change."
