check lat/long coordinates falling in ocean #14

@beckybanbury, I was just looking at the maps and noticed that there are quite a few points falling in the ocean. They may be on islands, but let's check.

@teixeirak the maps are corrected now; I had accidentally used the absolute value of latitude in the code! They look a lot better now.
