All, I put a first stab at the flowchart and additional information here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1et3R6IevQqQEDRRKsmIgi36HBWoIn-3ht4YUWGOV0eM/edit# Next steps that I can see:

  1. What special cases, other details, are missing from this doc??

  2. What can be taken out?

    • Do we need all these software types? As a test: how many of the examples under 3.a. fall in each category?
    • Do we need more data on metadata?
  3. What more do we need to do before sending this?

  4. Examples, from 5 domains (e.g. life, physical, earth, social sciences & computer science, e.g. NLP/data science, random Jupyter Notebook):

    *   Software examples (e.g. 5-10 per domain)
    *   Metadata for these
    *   Example citations for these
  5. Better description of i. What metadata is required exactly ii. How to create it iii. Tools for creating metadata, exhaustive/editable list

  6. Easily legible/well-formatted version of the flowchart

  7. A website showing a-c (e.g. on Force11 website?)

  8. Who do we want to reach?

  9. Open Source community

  10. Publishers

  11. Code repositories

  12. Other efforts: Scholix? Make Data Count? Enabling FAIR data in ESS, Others? RDA community?

  13. What do we want from them:

a. Sign on/off? How?

b. Implementation: how do we know it worked?

Other steps? Is that a valuable starting point?

Dan, Martin, others: how do we move this forward? Do I need to put things in Github to do that?? (Please say no 😉!) Do we need to wait for November to have a next conversation?

Thanks!

Anita

since this numbering is very confusing, maybe you can fix it by putting some of this in the document?

Also, I'm getting to be a bit unsure if what this is doing is re-writing the other (A&P) document or if not, how this will be folded in. Maybe you (@anitawaard) want to join the writing group and we can put these efforts together?
