Beyond Legal Absolutism vs. Code Absolutism: How Can we Make The Transition into Cryptocommerce Peaceful?

This bounty is to get your input on the Substack book and book club, Gaming the Future: Technologies for Intelligent Voluntary Cooperation by Allison Duettmann, Christine Peterson, Mark S. Miller, Foresight Institute.

What’s the book about: Have you ever played Civilization? In the game, you’re discovering technologies that unlock new levels, one capability at a time. But not all innovations are equal. Better technologies of cooperation could unlock new levels of progress across the board. Opportunities for bright futures enabled by bio, nano, and computing technologies are now within our reach. Their proliferation also comes with risks and authoritarian attempts at control. This book explores how cryptocommerce can enable decentralized, secure cooperation across human and computing entities. This unlocks a third path: a paretotropian future of high technology, intelligence and freedom.

What is this bounty about?

We would love your input to improve the ideas and technologies in the book. Each bounty in this series corresponds to one chapter. If we pick your submission, in addition to rewarding the bounty, we may get in touch to discuss if and how to include it in the book.

Submit your bounty-response below for your chance to be rewarded 0.15 ETH.

Work has been started.

These users each claimed they can complete the work by 1 day, 2 hours from now. Please review their action plans below:

1) gamemachina has started work.

I will read the book, take notes and come up with ideas that I feel would be beneficial. 2) eartbelike has started work.

The current human-powered legal system has a certain set of features (judges, lawsuits, juries, policy, expert arbitration, etc.) that serve a certain set of interest groups (private sector, public sector, lawyers, policy makers, citizens, etc.). To help ensure a peaceful transition to a more programmatic, smart contract driven, and "code is law" system, the same features should be provided in the new system and each interest group should get what they already get, ideally more cheaply and with additional functions.

I'd suggest a "technology trees" type project mapping out the current legal system, its features and its participants, and then considering the web3 corollary for each element. It's likely that certain features of the existing system would become obsolete in a smart contract driven system, but there may be benefits in creating features of the new system that are meant only to help users of the old system feel comfortable with the new. These could almost be thought of as "vestigial features" that are meant to evolve out once the peaceful transition is done.

A tech trees type project would help visualize which "vestigial features" might be worth building as part of a peaceful transition strategy. 3) sprinkles1113 has started work.
