bug: Losing focus on mouse click on Wayland when using Desktop Icons NG extension #109

Losing focus when clicking in / on a window on Ubuntu Wayland while using the Desktop Icons NG Gnome extension (https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/2087/desktop-icons-ng-ding/). I can still focus on a window using the Super+j keybinding but lose focus immediately when clicking with the mouse anywhere. This means I can't interact with any program except via keyboard commands. On Xorg I'm having no issues.

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Start a Wayland session in Ubuntu
  2. Download https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/2087/desktop-icons-ng-ding/
  3. Download Forge via extensions.gnome.org
  4. Try to interact with windows
  5. Disable Desktop Icons NG and try again

Thanks for the report. Not sure if it is related to Mutter, will investigate. https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/issues/2091. I am also seeing re-focus issues on Wayland as also reported on pop-shell.

Hi @s1m-e0n - is this still happening?

s1m-e0n commented 2 years ago

Hi @jmmaranan Unfortunately, I have since changed systems and unable to test on that machine again. But I have had no issues on Fedora 36 (Wayland) so far, although I didn't enable the extension for a while after switching and can't report whether it was working on Fedora all along. Sorry if that isn't much help, but for me everything works now. Thank you very much for making this great extension.

Oh thanks! I'll close this one. And we can reopen if it happens again.

Hi @jmmaranan, I'm having a similar issue when using the Libadwaita port of Desktop Icons NG (https://gitlab.com/smedius/desktop-icons-ng). Only loosing focus when clicking on the desktop, with the focus box surrounding the workspace and showing on my 2nd monitor. This happens both on wayland and Xorg.

Here's a video of me clicking between both of my monitors. When clicking on one screen, the focus line shows on the other and vice versa; Also when focusing through apps, the desktop is selected
