Formtools and PHP 8

My webhost forced an update to PHP 8 on us. My version of Formtools is still working, although there's some odd behavior which I think may be related. Does anyone know the status of Formtools and PHP 8?

I just tried the same, I was forced to switch to PHP 8 and run into problem. Filling in a form an doing enter produces only a blank screen. Switchinh back to 7.4 PHP everything is ok. I am running 3.0.15 / 3.1.0

Hey guys, thanks for posting. So.... I swore off this project years ago now, but on reflection I'll work on adding PHP 8 support this year. It's clearly still being used and worth spending the time to keep it functional. I have another project I'll be focusing on for a while longer yet, but I'll try to get to this when I can.

But it'll be odd to return to it, hah!

Hey folks, I just released 3.1.0 of the core + a couple of modules (Export Manager included). It's running fine for me on PHP 8.2, but do let me know if anyone spots any problems. You can download the new version on the main download page here: https://formtools.org/download/ - but I'll be updating the Upgrade page in coming days to explain why the upgrade functionality is no longer automated.

As I posted on the website I'll be sticking around for bug fixes from here on out.

I wanted to upgrade to 3.1.0 but indeed I do not remember the last upgrade in 2019 to 3.0.15. Is it right just to upload the unzipped modules into the appropriate formtools folder and then log in as admin and to start an install-php or ist that even automated?, Backup of database available Thanks for response - Duepmann

I not really acquainted with formtools and ask therefore. To upgrade from 2.0.15 to 3.1.1 I just have to upload the modules in the directory-structures to my hoster via ftp and the to login as administrator to do final settings?

Hi Ben,

with php 7 it works ! php 8.1: I now installed Your sent ZIP and attached please see after Installation – all other Modules are the old ones. Forms are shown, Enter and edit data is possible but sending DATA by Email does not work and after pressing “continue” there no new form is sent from webserver to browser. I edited some elements in the User form at the Email Tab with no success

Have You any idea what to do? Should I update the Export-Module from the formtool-Page?

Sorry for not responding earlier, but glad you made some progress! For the modules, you'll need to download the latest versions of whatever you have installed, then update them separately. Try following the instructions on this page: https://docs.formtools.org/upgrading/

I would definitely start by updating everything you have installed - that's the most likely cause of the problem.
