remove references to global `_g` class #1

This class was mainly used as a way to store global variables for communication between TopSpin and the backend. As established in our discussion on Friday, this shouldn't be needed for our present purposes, as its attributes are either passed in as function arguments or are otherwise available.

it came at the cost of passing a gigantic tuple as optimargs, but that pesky _g is gone now, hooray
