The design document doesn't include information about how this is different from plex.

There are a couple things which make this different from plex:

  1. Openness. There doesn't see to a public plex API for retrieving and playing audio from the plex library. Also, plex is closed source. One of our goals is to be an open platform for people to host and stream their music with.

  2. Focus on music. Instead of spending resources on handling all kinds of media, we only support music.

Plex and emby do most of the stuff we do really well. But I want to build something cool.
