Ipaddr.py is part of netcommon and not utils #2

In line #4 of render_config.py I got an Module Not Found Error. I did a pip install ansible but still the issue persisted. I found that in the latest version of ansible_collections, the path to ipaddr.py is "ansible_collections.ansible.netcommon.plugins.filter.ipaddr" and not "ansible_collections.ansible.utils.plugins.filter.ipaddr"

Hi @ramakrishnanr89.

I think it's the other way around, they've moved ipaddr.py from netcommon to utils here: https://github.com/ansible-collections/ansible.netcommon/pull/359

My version at the moment:

% pip list | grep ansi
ansible                  7.2.0
ansible-core             2.14.2
% ls /usr/local/lib//python3.9/site-packages/ansible_collections/ansible/utils/plugins/filter/ipaddr*
/usr/local/lib//python3.9/site-packages/ansible_collections/ansible/utils/plugins/filter/ipaddr.py

This is weird. When I list the versions available the latest stable is 4.10, which is what I have installed. But yours seem to be 7.2.0.

$ python3 -m pip list | grep ansi ansible 4.10.0 ansible-core 2.11.12

4.10.0 seems to be from 2021... I am seeing 7.2.0 on my Mac, and btw python is 3.9.16. Anyway, looks like "utils" is the new location for ipaddr.py...

ramakrishnanr89 commented 1 year ago

I updated to python 3.9 and got the ansible version 7.2.0. I am getting an error on the usage of ipaddr(0) now. It return "False" instead of the network address of the IP. I tried ipaddr('network/prefix') but still the same error. I am not wondering if I should install a fresh version of linux machine. Anyway thanks for the help on the ansible version now it picks up the utils path instead of netcommon.
