Sorry to hear that.
Did you try to install from git, from a snapshot zip or from a release zip?
I was using the git-version. I probably messed up the npm-stuff. I started over, this time on Debian to avoid possible SELinux issues, tried the normal release and got it working. I had unrelated computer-troubles at the time and wasn't in the right frame of mind to systematically track the problem down. I'm sorry.
The install instructions can still be improved though. On Debian 9 I had to:
There are already some guides on the wiki but it is not clear if the steps can be replicated on a fresh system or there were some packages already installed. We will need to try to install selfoss in fresh virtual machine for each distribution. This is on my to-do list but unfortunately almost at the bottom.
I tried to install selfoss on Fedora 26 and failed. In the end I was somewhat frustrated and gave up after getting an "an error occured" message and not knowing why. Maybe I had unmet dependencies, maybe it was an SELinux issue, I don't know and I don't care anymore (the VM I used doesn't exist anymore). The current install instructions are kind of rudimentary and the support forum wasn't of much help either. But this isn't supposed to be a useless rant, especially since the error is probably sitting in front of my keyboard. So, would it be possible to get a step-by-step installation guide for Debian 9 and/or Fedora 26?
