Hello, I have just updted the coverart-album-browser (01-06-2013) and I found this error: https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B-lfbGDxpCBVTXFwMWd2ZjRweGM As you can see the first and the last choice have the same name. Is it a problem of translation?

Thank you for your work.

fossfreedom commented 11 years ago

Yes - its a translation issue - thanks for the report.

This is the standard French locale file:

You'll see that the "msgid "Sort by album artist" string is the same as "msgid "Sort by year"

I was going to ask if you have some time, to look at this file and update this for us in the next four weeks.

If you can help - you can do so now - but we may have to come back to you some time later with the very latest translation changes.

This is the relevant part of the TRANSLATE_README file to help with testing your changes

#Take special care with "Fuzzy" translations. "Fuzzy" lines should be
#removed - the string should be carefully examined since these are often
#automated translations.
#run lang.sh to compile and install the po files
sudo ./lang.sh /usr/share/locale/

The fr.po file is in the sub-folder "po"

I be happy to take care of it. Is there someone else to check?

fossfreedom commented 11 years ago

I can visually check by switching my system to the French locale - I cant comment on the actual translation you use since I'm not french speaking myself - I'll trust you with your translation!

fossfreedom commented 11 years ago

@londumas - this french-canadian translation should hopefully be useful to see how that translator has dealt with the new translation strings

jrbastien commented 11 years ago

@londumas and @fossfreedom, I can confirm that the French Canadian translation does not have this issue. It should be almost the same except for all words "jaquette" replaced by "pochette".

fossfreedom commented 11 years ago

@londumas - I have setup Launchpad.net with translation support - since you are a Ubuntu user I imagine you already have a launchpad account.

This is a web-interface - it should make translation very easy.

If you have some time, please can you visit the following link and make your changes to the French locale. Thanks.

Hello, I am doing the translation. Why is there these symbols in the following English text? "Use the source's custom statusbar to show the current selected album's related information instead of the global Rhythmbox's statusbar." translation 67 "Show the album's basic information under the cover image."translation 76

Edited by asermax: marked the lines as code to preserve the html entities.

jrbastien commented 11 years ago

This is html code for the apostrophe. You don't need them in translated string.
