Chat icon never stops blinking #81

Closed itkach closed 11 years ago

itkach commented 11 years ago

Chat icon starts blinking when new message comes in which is great. Viewing new conversation, however, doesn't stop the blinking, in fact there appears to be no way at all to stop the blinking (other than disabling chat icon altogether). This is in Thunderbird 17.

sgrayban commented 11 years ago

I don't like the chat icon at all, its pointless eye candy.

Hi, could you provide further information about your environment. This issue has been fixed in #61, which is inlcuded in version v0.4.4 ( currently unstable ). While waiting a more stabilized version than v0.4.4 is released, I suggest you either try v0.4.4, or build from the source

FireTray 0.4.3 Thunderbird 17 Ubuntu 12.04 64bit Awesome window manager (no gnome panel)

itkach commented 11 years ago

@sgrayban this is very pointful not eycandy: Thunderbird chat is useful, but lacks proper message notifications, which this extension fills nicely (or would if it worked properly for chat). @foudfou I'll give FireTray 0.4.4 a try, thank you.

itkach commented 11 years ago

0.4.4 is slightly better, but still not doing the right thing. I started new IRC conversation. Few minutes later I got response - a new message. Chat icon started to blink - great. I came back to Thunderbird and replied - chat icon stopped blinking, great. Next message addressed to me though triggered the blinking again even though chat window was active and I replied, and there's no stopping it, short of restarting Thunderbird.

"Show the Chat tab" button seems to track new unread chat messages correctly, it would be great if chat icon could mirror it in the tray.

If the new message is in the selected conversation of the active chat tab of the active thunderbird window (in other words, if the conversation is on top), then what you describe is definitely wrong. I could not reproduce this issue in awesome on my Fedora 17. I suspect this may be a locale issue. Could you turn logging on and look for something like

 conv.title='BLABLA' selectedConv.title='BLIBLI'

Or just past all output to any pastie facility.

foudfou commented 11 years ago

Forgot to say that you need a fresh build to get full logging.

itkach commented 11 years ago

Haven't seen this issue for several days with FireTray 0.4.4/Thunderbird 17.0.2, so it must have been triggered by something rather uncommon...

foudfou commented 11 years ago

@itkach I'll close this issue. Feel free to reopen it if it still occurs.
