MacKit/iOSKit #14

Had a discussion with @eaigner, whether IOKit code that detects a plugged in iPod belongs in FoundationKit or AppKitSquared.

What if FoundationKit were cross-Mac/iOS only, while we add MacKit and iOSKit. That way iPod-detection code clearly belongs in MacKit, since it's useless on iOS, even thought it uses IOKit which would otherwise make it belong to FoundationKit.

eaigner commented 13 years ago

It's not iPod specific code, but code for USB device notifications and the Apple remote.

MSch commented 13 years ago

Well that is pretty Mac specific though. So the argument remains the same?

eaigner commented 13 years ago

I'm fine with either choice.

eaigner commented 13 years ago

I checked different names. The domain basek.it would also be available. Maybe split it up in 3 frameworks.

On second thought I don't like the wording of iOSBase and MacBase. MacKit and iOSKit seem more appropriate.

@Erik, Well, that sounds kinda Mac-specific to me too -)

I love "MacKit" and "iOSKit"! Have some second thoughts because of trademarks, but worst case we rename it ;)

eaigner commented 13 years ago

iKit and XKit ;)
