Guys, this is fantastic, so glad you're doing this.
It would be good if the next time you meet to chat about this, you think about it from a really strategic point of view - I think there are some core questions to be answered that will help you frame everything else. (You might want to chat to Dan about some of this, but I would always try to keep in mind the question of how every activity we undertake directly benefits FAC and its goals.)
For example:
What is the overarching purpose of the C4E meetup? e.g. Is it to help applicants through prerequisites? Or To provide a forum for people who can't do the course so they can pair and collaborate? Or To be an almighty free-for-all? etc. etc. etc.
Who is C4E for (in conjunction with the question above)? People at Codecademy stage? People at Codewars stage? People applying for the course? The general public? All of the above?
How much is it "costing" us, and is this an efficient use of our resources? So, if it takes 2-3 people 3-4 hours a week (plus coding for women), is their time being put to good use?
Are weekly meetups a good frequency?
Are we missing a trick by not structuring the evening? What if we had people give short talks along with an intro to FAC? Or maybe that's totally unnecessary - maybe unstructured is best. Would be good to hear people's ideas
As far as ground rules go, I created this doc a while ago but didn't really go anywhere (mainly cos you guys turned up and we washed our hands of it) - use as you see fit.
How are we leveraging it? We have 1600 members on meetup.com - we've helped them out, have they helped us out? I saw a guy in the C4E gitter channel had done some work with a digital magazine - dropped him a line, and he's put me in touch with them. Maybe nothing comes of it, maybe we get a nice feature in the mag. So, how else can we harness the goodwill of everyone who's attended?
Pretty much all of these questions for the C4E gitter channel - is this working, and is it working hard enough for us, etc.?
What processes do we need?
Should we institute a rota system for FAC7? Or is the ad hoc approach working just fine?
Should we nominate a couple of people every cohort to be in charge of replying to queries on meetup.com? And generally updating times/locations/instructions etc.
Guys, this is fantastic, so glad you're doing this.
