Feral Child should grant darkvision if low-light vision is provided by any prior source #13214

In the instance of a background like Feral Child, a character is supposed to gain Darkvision if it already has Low-Light Vision.

Currently in the system, only an Ancestry source of Low-Light Vision is considered but shouldn't the Heritage be seen as an equivalent ? Both being linked and part of the origins of the character.

You also gain low-light vision, or you gain darkvision if your ancestry already has low-light vision. You can choose from dhampir feats and feats from your ancestry whenever you gain an ancestry feat.

Feral Child doesn't have this specification though, it only says

You gain Low-Light Vision (or Darkvision if you already had Low-Light Vision)

Then what does this have to do with ancestries vs heritages?

reonZ commented 9 months ago

The Feral Child background has a predicate of "self:low-light-vision:from-ancestry" for darkvision and therefore doesn't work for Low-Light Vision given by Heritage

I didn't know that Feral Child was the exception.
