F Y I - I was able to run Bootra1n successfully after removing the passcode but I was able to run Checkra1n with Ubuntu Linux installed without removing the passcode. I believe the passcode issue is related to the Bootra1n Linux installation rather than a problem with Checkra1n (as I had suspected earlier).

Honestly, I experienced this issue with other methods (MacBook) as well, so I don't think that it's a problem of Linux. Just remove the password and other lock methods (touch ID), try again, and you will not get the -77 error anymore. (At least, it worked for me) This way the Checkra1n loader will also be sideloaded, to be able to install cydia and start tweaking.

Thanks for your message.

After I setup Ubuntu with v19.10 this issue does not occur. With Ubuntu v16 it fails with -77 (didn’t try v18) so it appears to be dependent on the version of Linux used.

What I type to execute:

chmod 777 checkra1n sudo ./checkra1n

Actually Bootra1n is easier to use (except for the -77) but removing passcode disables Apple Pay and Touch ID for a few apps so it is a hassle.

Looks like it might be possible to fix Bootra1n .....

Thanks again for the response.
