Do you have the KVM kernel module enabled in your kernel? What distro?
I have the same problem. I'm running Pop!_OS 18.04 (basically Ubuntu 18.04).
Also I don't know how to enable the KVM kernel module. I made a little research but came up with nothing
I'm running Ubuntu 19.10 with the 5.3.8-050308-generic kernel from the mainline PPA.
KVM will auto load if virtualization is enabled in BIOS. Check your motherboard's settings to enable virtualization.
Make sure you enable virtualization in BIOS
